Brooks Running has been in business since 1914. The company started out making bathing shoes and ballet footwear in Philadelphia; later, it expanded into sports footwear and children’s shoes. As running became more popular in the 1970s, Brooks began shifting its focus to running shoes. In fact, its Villanova shoe was developed in partnership with Olympic runner Marty Liquori. Today, Brooks Running produces shoes and gears that are entirely focused on running. The company is based in Seattle and prides itself on its environmentally friendly headquarters and socially responsible practices.
